DESCRIPTION -

• Serves as a liaison between the internal business community, the Mandates team, and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs.

• Documents business requirements and translates them into functional specifications for the IT organization, manages changes to such specifications, and educates the IT organization on the direction of the business.

• Gathers information about the organization's work processes and information flows.

• Documents both existing and new process in technical model format in order to evaluate and define new IT solutions and implementation processes; also identifies where new SOPs, training are necessary and liaise with Training dept.

• Supports several simple to moderately complex business processes.

Requirements:

• Possesses an understanding of technological trends and uses this knowledge to bring solutions to business groups supported to enhance the enterprise's competitive edge.

• Has basic knowledge in functions they support (one or more of the functions listed above).

• Has knowledge and background of other technologies and tools.

• Has basic understanding of business, market and industry issues facing a specific business unit or function.

• Must be able to quickly learn and effectively communicate business processes to members of team and organization.

• Healthcare, Insurance, Mandates experience preferred

• Excellent communication skills: needs to be able to liaise well between business SMEs (subject matter experts), Business Analysts, Functional analysts, technical and project teams and training area.

• Strong critical thinking skills

• Ability to work well with different personalities and work styles

Job Description:

The senior database developer will be expected to work from business requirements, but also be able to work with the BA and business users to insure that the requirements are complete and consistent. The business application is investment-focused: cash flow projections for a wide variety of assets (primarily fixed income), including bonds, swaps, futures, and equities.

This position is not for someone who is primarily a specialist, such as:

• DBAs.

• ETL specialists (e.g., SSIS).

• Reporting specialists (e.g., SSRS).

• OLAP specialists.

• Deployment and configuration specialists.

• Tuning specialists.

Requirements

o 7+ years as a SQL database developer, with at least three years on a recent (2005+) version of MS SQL Server.

o Able to work with the business users.

o Adept at logical design. Must be able to take business requirements and design the database solution: tables, processing, control, etc.

o Adept at physical design: degree of normalization, functional decomposition, and o Experience with large tables, e.g, tables with hundreds of millions of rows.

o Adept at object-level development: tables, indexes, stored procedures, functions, etc.

o Very good understanding of testing: planning, conducting, and evaluating unit tests, integration tests, and user acceptance tests.

o Experience with a revision control system such as StarTeam, ClearCase, Visual SourceSafe.

o Understanding of database deployment procedures.

o Experience working in finance or with investments is a strong plus.

o Familiarity with a procedural language such as Java or .Net is a plus.
